Nancy Collop, M.D.
Dr. Collop graduated summa cum laude from Edinboro State University
in Pennsylvania. She was the first graduate from the All College
Honors Program and the recipient of the Dean Well Award for
Outstanding Student in the Health Sciences. Dr. Collop earned her
medical degree from Pennsylvania State University College of
Medicine, where she was awarded the Roche Clinical Psychiatry
Research Award and was elected to the Alpha Omega Alpha Honor
Society. Dr. Collop completed her internal medicine internship and
residency at the Medical College of Virginia in Richmond, and a
pulmonary/critical care fellowship at the University of Florida In
Gainesville. She was the recipient of the Research Fellowship Award
from the American Lung Association of Florida.
Dr. Collup,
a nationally recognized expert in sleep medicine, was recently named
director of the Emory Sleep Center. She also will have a primary
appointment in the Emory School of Medicine as professor of medicine
in the Division of Pulmonary, Allergy and Critical Care Medicine,
and a secondary appointment as professor of neurology. Collop comes
to Emory from Johns Hopkins University, where she served as a
professor of medicine in the Division of Pulmonary and Critical Care
Medicine and as the medical director of The Johns Hopkins Hospital
Sleep Disorders Laboratory.
Collop
graduated summa cum laude from Edinboro State University in Edinboro,
Pennsylvania and earned her medical degree at Pennsylvania State
University College of Medicine, where she was awarded the Roche
Clinical Psychiatry Research Award and was elected to the Alpha
Omega Alpha Honor Society. Collop completed her internal medicine
internship and residency at the Medical College of Virginia and a
pulmonary/critical care fellowship at the University of Florida. She
was a recipient of the Research Fellowship Award from the American
Lung Association of Florida.
She has been
awarded several prestigious honors including “Best Doctors in
America,” Baltimore’s “Top Doctor” in pulmonary and critical care
medicine and sleep medicine, the Al Soffer Award for Editorial
Excellence and the College Medalist by the American College of Chest
Physicians, Distinguished Alumna for Natural Sciences (Edinboro
University), and the Helmut S. Schmidt Award (American Board of
Sleep Medicine).
Collop has
served on the Board of Directors for the American Board of Sleep
Medicine since 1998 and was the president from 2002-2009. She is on
the Board of Directors of the American Academy of Sleep Medicine and
is currently the president elect; she is also on the Board of
Directors for the American Sleep Medicine Foundation. She was on the
founding committee of the American Board of Internal Medicine (ABIM)
Sleep Medicine Examination Committee and also serves on the ABIM
Pulmonary Self Evaluation Process committee. Collop is an associate
editor of the journal Chest and serves on the editorial board of
Pulmonary Reviews. Her research interests include diagnostic testing
for sleep-disordered breathing and standards for polysomnography. |

Marietta B. Bibbs, BA, RPSGT
Marietta is Manager of Sleep and Neurodiagnostics at Morton Plant Mease
Healthcare in Clearwater, FL. Marietta has worked in the field of sleep
medicine for 36 years, is past president of the BRPT, past chair of the
BRPT Exam Development Committee and past chair of the BRPT Education
Advisory Committee. Marietta is a recipient of both the Weitzman Award
and the MacGregor Award. |

Daniel Brown, J.D.
Daniel Brown, J.D., is the legal expert on the faculty of the Atlanta
School. A specialist in healthcare law, Mr. Brown is the co-author of
the publication "Sleep and the Law".
Mr. Brown is a partner at Brown, Dresevic, Gustafson, Iwrey, Kalmowitz
and Pendleton, THE HEALTH LAW PARTNERS, LLC, a nationally recognized
health law firm with offices in New York, Michigan and now Atlanta.
Mr. Brown has extensive experience advising clients on the legal and
regulatory issues impacting sleep physician groups, laboratories and
independent diagnostic testing facilities. His presentation to Atlanta
classes on the Legal Aspects of Sleep is a primer on the implications of
establishing and operating a sleep center.
Mr.
Brown earned a law degree from the University of Tennessee and a B.A.
from Vanderbilt University. He is a member of the American Health
Lawyers Association and the Health Law Section of the Georgia Bar. Dan
has been practicing law for nineteen years.

Kim Goins, RPSGT
Worked in the field of sleep medicine since 1997 and became
registered by the BRPT in 1999. I am currently the Supervisor of the
Sleep Center at Egleston, Children's Healthcare of Atlanta, a
leading pediatric hospital. My primary focus for the last 11 years
has been pediatric sleep medicine.

Ed Grandi
Edward Grandi serves as the Executive Director of the American Sleep
Apnea Association. He began his non-profit career as a director of
development after 25 years as an insurance executive. His background
in sales and marketing has transformed the association; making it
more dynamic and responsive to the needs of the various constituents
of the organization. He is frequently quoted in local and national
media on the prevalence of sleep apnea and diagnostic and treatment
options available to address this chronic disease. |

Byron Jamerson, RPSGT
Byron is the
Director of Sleep Disorders Services for Coffee Health Group in
Florence, AL and has been a sleep tech since 1986. He became
registered by the BRPT in 1989. Since then he has served as an
examiner on the BRPT part 3 exam, has served on the editorial board
of the national newsletter, was co-chair of the first APT
Technologist recognition week, and served as the Education Chair for
the Alabama Association of Sleep Professionals. In 1994 Byron began
teaching and doing private consulting work. His students have a very
good record on the registry exam and he has also taken five
different sleep programs through the AASM accreditation. Byron tries
to take a “plain English” approach to his teaching and believes that
truly understanding the foundational standards is the key to making
a great sleep tech. |

Manoj Maggan
DDS
Dr.
Manoj Maggan received his dental degree from the University of Tennessee in
1995. His practice, in Alpharetta, Ga, is limited to the treatment of TMJ
disorders, Orofacial Pain and Dental Sleep Medicine. Dr. Maggan is Board
Certified in Dental Sleep Medicine with a Diplomate from the American Board
of Dental Sleep Medicine. He is also a Diplomate in the American Academy of
Pain Management and has earned a fellowship in the American Academy of
Craniofacial Pain and the International College of Craniomandibular
Orthopedics. |

J. Mark Parrish,
C.R.T., RPSGT
Has worked in the field of sleep medicine for 24 years. Registered
Technologist since 1993. Was the original Director for central
Georgia's largest sleep disorders center. Currently works as the
Program Chair and Lead Instructor for the Polysomnographic
Technology Program at Central Georgia Technical College.

Mayoor Patel DDS, D.ABDSM
Dr. Mayoor Patel received his dental degree from the University of
Tennessee in 1994 and then completed a one year residency in
Advanced Education in General Dentistry (AEGD). He has earned a
Fellowship in the American Academy of Craniofacial Pain, the
International College of Craniomandibular Orthopedics & Academy of
General Dentistry along with being a Diplomate in the American
Academy of Pain Management. He is one of four in Georgia to be
Boarded in Dental Sleep Medicine with a Diplomate from the American
Board of Dental Sleep Medicine. Dr Patel has taken well over 1000
hours of postgraduate education courses in the area of Sleep
Medicine, Craniofacial Pain, Sleep disorders and Orthodontics.
Presently, Dr Patel has enrolled in a Masters in Science program
with Tufts University in Boston and plans to complete it in 2011.
Since December 2008, he has been appointed as the Director of the
Dental Sleep Medicine Program at Fusion Sleep in Suwanee, Georgia.
Dr Patel was born and raised in Harare, Zimbabwe. After moving to
Atlanta he has worked in the Metro area since 1995. He has served as
a part time clinical instructor at Georgia Perimeter College and
presently sits on the Dental Advisory Committee. In addition, Dr
Patel is a Peer reviewer for Penn Well Publications.
Since 2003, he has limited his practice to the treatment of TMJ
Disorders, Headaches, Facial Pain, Sleep apnea and Snoring. Along
with a busy practice Dr Patel also lectures on topics in
Temporomandibular disorders and Dentists role in dental management
of Sleep Apnea and snoring.

Emmanuel J. Porquez BS, RPSGT
Emmanuel J.
Porquez has been affiliated with the Atlanta School of Sleep
Medicine and Technology since 2004. As a Registered Polysomnographic
Technologist, he has taught and participated in Physician’s Board
Reviews, Technicians Board Reviews, Technician’s A-Step Program,
various webinar lectures, including lecturing in pediatric courses,
all through the Atlanta School of Sleep Medicine. Porquez has
participated in more than 15 different pharmaceutical research
protocols during his tenure at Neurotrials Research Inc., and is a
published author in The Focus Journal, Sleep Review Journal and RT
Manual for Decision Makers. He currently works for Children’s
Healthcare of Atlanta, one of the leading pediatric hospitals in the
country, where he continues to expand his knowledge and focus on the
pediatric age group. Porquez has also been an employee at Piedmont
Heart Institute since 2007 where he works PRN. Emmanuel is a
national and regional speaker and serves on the Editorial Review
Board for Sleep Review Journal.

Beth Richey, RRT
12+ years in Respiratory care with experience in various areas
including:General acute staff respiratory care, Nursing Home care
Pulmonary Rehab instructor, Pulmonary Function Testing and Home
Care. Currently is the Area Clinical Manager - Southeast for ResMed
Corporation, Providing clinical education relating to sleep
disordered breathing to Physicians, Respiratory Care Practitioners,
Nurses, Polysomnography Techs, and general public. Area covered
includes the Southeast U.S. – From Texas to East Coast and PR.

Richard S. Rosenberg, PhD
Richard Rosenberg received his PhD in 1980 from the University of
Chicago where he worked in the laboratory of Dr. Allan Rechtschaffen.
After a postdoctoral fellowship at Argonne National Laboratory he
served as co-director of the University of Chicago Sleep Center and
then director of the Evanston Hospital Sleep Center.
He was a member of the AASM Board of Directors from 1999 to 2003. He
joined the AASM staff in 2004 and worked with the Education,
Accreditation and Standards of Practice Committees. He is now
Director of Professional Education and Training at the AASM.

Arthur S.
Walters, M.D.
Arthur S. Walters, M.D. completed his
medical degree at Wayne State University, Detroit, MI, his Neurology
Residency at Downstate Medical Center Brooklyn, NY and subsequently
his Movement Disorder Fellowship at the Neurological Institute,
Columbia Presbyterian Medical Center, NY, NY. He served as Assistant
and Associate Professor of Neurology at UMDNJ-Robert Wood Johnson
Medical School and then as full Professor of Neuroscience at the
Seton Hall University School of Graduate Medical Education, both in
New Jersey, from 1998-2008.
In 2008 he joined the
Vanderbilt faculty as Professor of Neurology and as Associate
Director of the Vanderbilt Sleep Disorders Center.
Dr. Walters has been awarded the 2010
American Academy of Neurology Sleep Science Award for excellence in
sleep research and will be featured in the textbook "Pioneers and
Thought Leaders in Sleep Medicine." Dr. Walters also holds a
distinguished faculty medical license in Tennessee.

Susan Keller Yenney, RPSGT
Susan Keller Yenney, RPSGT has been working in the field of sleep
medicine and technology for the past 24 years. She has worked on
projects with many pioneers in the field including Dr. Bill Dement.
She has many years of sleep lab management experience and currently
serves as a site visitor for the CoA PSG segment of the Commission
on Accreditation of Allied Health Education Programs and as a
technical board member of the Georgia Association of Sleep
Professionals. She has been working with Philips Respironics as a
Sleep Consultant since 2009. |
